Rental Terms
Effective August 22, 2026. These terms summarise the Clothing & Costume Rental Agreement between Marcosquared LLC (dba The Archive Hollywood) and the Renter, which is signed at pickup and governs every rental.
How rentals work
The Archive Hollywood is a private showroom, open by appointment Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Pieces are viewed and selected in person, collected from and returned to 1642 N Cherokee Ave, Hollywood. We do not ship. Same-day appointments may be available depending on production schedules.
Rental periods and rates
- 2-day rental — the base rate. Prices vary by piece and are quoted at your appointment.
- Weekly rental (7 days) — twice the 2-day rate.
- Extended rental — after 7 days, an additional 50% of the weekly rate per item, per week.
- 1-day rentals — by approval only, and always incur the dry-cleaning fee.
- Jewellery — $10 per piece. Accessories — $15 per piece. Shoes are quoted individually.
Fittings, holds and re-rack fees
You are welcome to try pieces on during your appointment where scheduling allows. Pieces may be placed on hold for up to 24 hours by approval; anything outside the showroom beyond 24 hours is treated as a rental and charged accordingly. A re-rack fee of $3, $5, $8 or $12 per item, depending on category, applies to pieces placed on hold or tried on and returned to the rail without being rented.
Payment and security
- Payment is due at pickup by credit card, PayPal or Zelle. Checks are accepted from approved accounts only.
- A valid photo ID and a signed rental agreement are required before any piece leaves the showroom.
- Security arrangements — a refundable deposit of up to the full replacement value, or a Letter of Responsibility from a production company — are agreed with you before pickup.
- Approved production companies may apply for Net 15 or Net 30 terms by credit application. Invoices paid after the due date carry a 10% late fee, increasing every 30 days.
Care and cleaning
Every worn piece must be professionally dry-cleaned before return. Pieces returned uncleaned are charged a $40 per item dry-cleaning fee; specialty pieces may be higher. Do not machine wash, hand wash or attempt repairs. No alterations of any kind — an altered piece is treated as damaged.
Use
Pieces may not be used for stunts, extreme weather exposure or hazardous activity without prior written approval, and may not be sub-rented, loaned or transferred. Everything must come back in the condition it left.
Late returns, loss and damage
- Late returns are charged at the next applicable rental rate. Where a late return disrupts another booking, a penalty fee is added.
- Minor repairs (small tears, missing buttons) — from $50 per item.
- Major damage — the full repair cost or ten times the rental fee, whichever is higher.
- Lost or irreparable pieces, and anything not returned within 30 days — ten times the rental fee or twice the replacement value, whichever is higher.
Many of our pieces are one of a kind. Replacement values reflect that.
Cancellations
A rental is confirmed once its invoice is finalised. Confirmed rentals cancelled before pickup are charged a minimum fee of 50% of the rental plus any re-rack fees. Rentals cancelled after pickup or bagging are charged in full. All rentals are final once pieces have left the showroom — see our Return and Refund Policy.
Liability
The Renter assumes full responsibility for all pieces from pickup to return, including during transport. Marcosquared LLC is not responsible for injuries, allergic reactions or damages arising from the use of rental pieces, and the Renter agrees to indemnify Marcosquared LLC against any claims arising from that use.
