Return and Refund Policy

The Archive Hollywood provides access to one-of-one garments and statement pieces for costume designers, stylists, performers and productions. Because our rentals are specialised and time-sensitive, the following applies to every rental.

1. Rentals are final

All rentals are final once pieces have left the showroom. No returns, refunds or exchanges are issued for event cancellations, sizing concerns, production changes, schedule changes or unused pieces, except as set out in Section 4.

Cancellations made before pickup are handled under the cancellation terms in the signed Rental Agreement and summarised on our Rental Terms page: a confirmed rental cancelled before pickup is charged 50% of the confirmed rental amount plus any applicable re-rack fees. After confirmation we reserve the selected pieces and may decline competing rentals for those dates; those amounts compensate us for reservation, handling, administrative and lost-booking impacts and are not a penalty.

2. Inspection at pickup

Inspect every piece when you collect it. By taking possession you accept each piece in its documented condition, except for any pre-existing condition recorded on the invoice, condition report, photographs or other record. We may record condition in writing or by photograph at pickup and again at return. We cannot act on condition complaints raised after pieces have left the showroom.

3. Loss, damage and alterations

You are responsible for the custody, condition, security, loss, theft and damage of each piece from the moment it is released from our premises until we physically receive and accept its return. Charges may apply for late returns, missing pieces, damage, unauthorised alteration and unreturned items, as set out in the signed Rental Agreement — repair or restoration at actual cost up to the applicable loss charge, and lost, stolen or irreparable pieces at the Agreed Loss Value stated on the invoice or item record. Where no item-specific value is stated, we may recover our reasonable loss attributable to the piece, including reasonable replacement or reconstruction cost and other recoverable damages permitted by law.

These charges are invoiced after return and are payable on the terms stated on the invoice. Where a credit card authorisation is on file, charges may be applied to that authorisation. Where an accepted Letter of Responsibility is on file instead, charges are invoiced to the responsible company under that Letter. Charges are supported on request by repair invoices, condition records or photographs.

4. Our error

If we supply the wrong piece through our own error and it is documented in writing at the time, we may issue a store credit or an adjusted invoice at our sole discretion. Cash or card refunds are not provided.

5. No warranties

All pieces are provided as-is, with no warranty of fit, durability, performance or suitability for a particular production. We are not responsible for allergic reactions, wardrobe failures or third-party dissatisfaction.
